Knights Cap Off Black and Gold Invitational in Style

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF track and field time capped off the first of two home meets to open the season in style as multiple athletes set new personal bests and climbed up the record books. Following day one of the Black and Gold Invitational, the Knights set out to repeat the success they saw on Friday. Jasmine Scott-Kilgo wrapped up as good of an opening meet as one could have with her new best mark in the triple jump at 13.20m. The incredible showing moved her from fourth to second in program history as she now just sits behind Dione Thomas (13.25m).

Day two got underway with the hammer throw as Chloe Hill made her first outing since 2022 with an impressive third-place finish with her 54.86m mark. Kaliah Jones, Holly Cassels and Natalia Madison returned to the high jump after impressive showings at the Indoor Championships. Kaliah Jones led the way in fourth with her 1.68m jump. The field events ended with the triple jump where Scott-Kilgo made history with her event-winning jump. Asherah Collins also landed fourth with a 12.62m jump.

The relay squad returned with the 400-meter which saw two Knights teams place in the top five. The squad of Ani Wells, Collins, Latasha Smith and Kiah Williams led the way in second with their impressive time of 44.56. Distance followed suit in the 800-meter as Mariana Rodriguez came in second with a new personal best of 2:10.86. Katie Pinnell came in third with a time of 2:12.13, a great showing for the duo in their opening meet of the outdoor season. Ali Del Re was the lone Knight to compete in the 5k as she landed in fifth with her 10:24.12 time.

Alicia Coleman had a great run in the 100-meter hurdles as her time of 13.92 was fifth best. Natalia Madison came in eight with her new personal best of 14.03. Paige Archer made her collegiate debut in the 100-meter dash after a good showing yesterday in the 200-meter dash. She followed it up with an even better performance today as she came in 10th with a time of 11.88.

The Black and Gold Invitational consisted of some of the best teams in the nation as schools such as Kentucky, Michigan, Maryland, and future Big 12 opponent Iowa State all competed in the two-day long meet. Next weekend UCF will be back at the Track and Field Complex for the Knights Invite on Friday and Saturday.
