BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UCF track and field team saw records fall and podium finishes in three events on the opening day of the 2022 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Brittany Floyd set a meet record and broke her own school record with 3,993 points in the pentathlon, starting the day with the first event title of the weekend.
She opened the multi-even with a fourth-place showing in the 60-meter hurdles. She tied for fifth in the high jump and turned in a personal best 11.00m shot put, but sat in seventh place entering the final two events. Floyd won the long jump to shoot up to second in the standings with just the 800-meter run remaining. She won the final event with a meet record 2:16.57 to take home the top honor overall and picked up 10 points for the Knights.
UCF added 10 more points to its score in the long jump. Jasmine Scott-Kilgo landed on the podium as her 6.05m mark put her on the podium for the bronze medal. Kiara Lee turned in a personal best 5.91m to finish fifth.
A perfect bookend to the opening day, the UCF distance medley relay not only collected silver medals, the quartet put their names in the record book. Mariana Rodriguez, Beyonce Defreitas, Katie Pinnell and Charlotte Crook set the UCF record in 11:29.94.
