ORLANDO - UCF Men's Golf head coach Bryce Wallor announced on Wednesday the signing of transfer Markus Braadlie as a member of the 2021 signing class.
"We are extremely excited to add a player as talented as Markus to the roster next fall," said Wallor. "Markus has had so many strong tournament finishes throughout his career, both on the international level and in college golf, and we are looking forward to his continued success here in Orlando."
A Baerum, Norway native, Braadlie comes to UCF from Texas Tech, where he was a three-year member of the Red Raiders' men's golf team. Braadlie comes to UCF as a senior with two years of eligibility remaining as he plans on taking full advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Braadlie had a World Amateur Golf Ranking as high as 133 in 2020-21.
As a junior at Texas Tech in 2020-21, Braadlie played in three events. He was the second top Tech player at The Prestige after shooting 5-over with a three-round card of 71-72-75=218 and he also finished tied for second place at the DBU Men's Classic with a 69-70-71=210(-6) score.
As a sophomore, Braadlie played in seven tournaments and posted a 71.56 scoring average with four top-20 finishes, including winning the Little Rock First Tee Classic after shooting 71-70-69=210(-6). He also finished 10th overall at The Prestige with a 69-74-66=209(-7) score. Braadlie's low-round for the season came with a 66 in the final round of The Prestige, and he finished the year shooting under par in 11 rounds.
Braadlie also won the TankLogix Invite at Green Tree in 2019 after shooting posting two rounds in the 60's.
In his freshman season, Braadlie competed in four tournaments, posting a 73.8 scoring average. He shot one-under-par at The Carmel Cup to open the season in September, shooting 66-74-75(-1) to finish 32nd overall.
Coming out of high school, Braadlie had a World Amateur Golf Ranking of 248. In 2015, he was the European Young Masters Champion. He also finished in seventh place at the 2017 Portugese International Amateur, took fifth place in the 2017 French Boys Championship and sixth place at the Fjallbacka Open. In total, Braadlie tallied six wins on the Norway national junior tour, including a junior national title.
Braadlie is the third new addition to the to the UCF Men's Golf 2021 class after incoming freshmen Reinaldo Simoni and Nicholas Estrada signed their National Letters of Intent in the fall. You can read the full Simoni signing release here and the full Estrada signing release here.
