Men's Golf Signs Reinaldo Simoni

ORLANDO - UCF Men's Golf head coach Bryce Wallor announced on Tuesday the signing of Reinaldo Simoni to the squad as a member of the 2021 freshman class. Simoni comes to UCF from right around the corner at Lake Nona high school in Orlando, Fla.

"Reinaldo comes to UCF with a proven tournament record and a strong academic resume," said Wallor. "Throughout his junior career, Reinaldo has competed and won locally against some of the best players in the Orlando area. Not only is he a standout golfer, but he has achieved at the highest level academically with a 3.90 GPA. He was also part of the French Honor Society for the 2017, 2018 and 2019 school years."

In 2020, Simoni won the Disney Junior Open with a low score of 136(-8) and posted the lowest score at the 2020 AJGA Preview at Ocala with a score of 68(-4). He was also the runner up at the 2020 Class 3A District 8 Championship.

Simoni was the 2019 Top High School Golf Player in the Orlando Family Magazine and has been a part of a couple of Lake Nona high school firsts as he was a freshman on the first ever school regional championship in 2017 was a part of the Lions' first East Metro conference championship in 2018.

At the 2018 AAU National Championship, Simoni won the stroke play gold medal and the match play silver medal.

Over the last calendar year, Simoni has played in 11 different ranked junior events and has broken par in 11 rounds during these local competitions while also finishing in the top ten in all but one tournament.

"Although COVID and its corresponding NCAA recruiting dead period have limited our opportunity to watch Reinaldo play and have him visit our campus, we have gotten to know the Simoni family over Zoom and vetted his abilities with his golf coach, Rob Roylance, at the Henry Bruton Golf Academy. We are very excited to see this local product become a UCF Knight," said Wallor.
