ORLANDO – The Knights' men's golf team added another signee to the class of 2021 on Thursday as head coach Bryce Wallor announced the signing of Nicholas Estrada from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
"Nicholas comes to UCF as proven student-athlete and junior golfer," said Wallor. "He brings with him a wealth of success both in the classroom and on the golf course, winning an event on the Florida Junior Golf Tour while also earning multiple top-10 finishes in national competitions on the American Junior Golf Association."
To this point in his senior year, Estrada has posted seven top-10 finishes and ten top-20 finishes. Some of his most recent accomplishments include tying at the Junior Honda Classic in January 2020 before losing in the playoff, finishing third (-8) at the Major Champions Invitational hosted by Nick Faldo in Arizona, finishing 35th at the 103rd Florida Amateur Championship in December 2020 and being ranked 300 on the Junior Golf scoreboard and 180 on Golfweek.
Estrada also won the Florida Junior Tour at Banyan Golf Club while carding a fifth-place finish in the AJGA Visit Sanford Junior Open, a sixth-place finish in the AJGA International Senior Show Case and a ninth-place finish in the AJGA Senior Show Case.
Estrada joins recent signee Reinaldo Simoni as a part of the UCF Men's Golf class of 2021 newcomers.
"Although Nicholas's recruiting process began in the traditional fashion a few years ago before the COVID-19 NCAA recruiting dead period began, we have been able to follow his continued success online and we are excited to welcome Nicholas and his family to UCF for the first time in the fall of 2021."
