TAMPA –
Day two of the 2021 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship saw the UCF track and field team collect points and advance five competitors to the finals on the track at the USF Track and Field Complex.

UCF saw its first points of the weekend come in the long jump as a pair of Knights combined to pick up six points for the Black and Gold. Jasmine Scott-Kilgo started the day off with a personal best 20-5/6.22m that not only carried her into the finals, but also to a fifth place finish in her AAC Championship debut. Leiya Green joined Scott-Kilgo in the finals where her first attempt (19-7/5.97m) earned her seventh place in her first outdoor conference championship meet.

Victoria Jung added a point for the Knights in the final event of the day – the 3000-meter steeplechase. The redshirt senior used a personal best 10:52.37 to finish eighth overall in her final conference meet.

For the second straight day, UCF advanced at least one competitor from each preliminary in which there was a Knight.

As she has done all season, Rayniah Jones provided the highlights on Saturday. The favorite in the 100-meter hurdles won her heat easily, posting the top time of the trials at 12.86. Jones would have set a meet record with the mark, but the wind in Tampa was just over the legal limit. The Miami native wasn't finished though, as she cruised to a heat win in the 100-meter dash. Jones ran a personal best 11.23, which was the second-fastest mark in the trials.

Jones will be joined by teammate Alexis Woodley in the 100-meter hurdle finals. The redshirt senior won her heat in 13.44 to automatically advance to Sunday's final.

Katie Pinnell is moving on to Sunday's 800-meter run final, as her 2:09.01 was the fourth-fastest time in the trials.

In the 400-meter dash, Latasha Smith pulled away from the pack to win her heat in 54.28 and earn an automatic spot in Sunday's final.

Holly Cassels and Kennedie Reese closed out the heptathlon, with Cassels finishing 13th overall and Reese finishing 19th.

The final day of action begins at 2:30 p.m. with the triple jump. The track events begin at 4:30 with the 4x1 relay.
