TAMPA – The UCF track and field team continued its record-setting ways at the South Florida Invitational on Saturday.
"Overall, it was a solid day," UCF head coach Dana Boone said. "We had some pieces starting to come together. We just need to keep competing and get back in that rhythm of competition. I'm looking forward to seeing this team develop."
Two weeks after setting the UCF freshman record in the 100-meter hurdles, Rayniah Jones improved her own mark in the event, posting a winning time of 13.35.
Jones was joined by Alexis Woodley and Alicia Coleman in the top 10 of the hurdles. Coleman posted a pair of personal bests in both hurdles events.
A trio of Knights finished in the top five of the 400-meter dash, led by Latasha Smith's winning time of 55.12. Kai'lyn Kirkland finished third in 55.67 and Samieryah Bradwell 56.10.
Adrienne Adams won the discus with a personal best throw of 154-0/46.94m. A personal best 132-0/40.35m from Nicole Whitaker gave her sixth place, while Jacquelyn Wagner finished eighth with a throw of 130-0/30.63m.
Two Knights finished second and third in the triple jump. Kiara Lee finished second with a jump of 41-1.75/12.54m. Asherah Collins finished third, landing at 40-11.75/12.49m.
Mariana Rodriguez used a personal best time of 4:37.80 to finish third in the 1500-meter run. Charlotte Crook set a personal best 2:09.48 to finish fourth in the 800-meter run.
A trio of Knights made their collegiate debuts in the 5000-meter run. Alexandra Del Re finished third in 17:35.60; Brenna Mullaney finished 13th in 19:35.62 and Mikaela Brown finished in 19:44.28.
The Knights return to action on April 9, heading to Miami for the two-day Miami Alumni Invite.
