UCF Earns Four Victories at Sunshine State Invite

SARASOTA – The UCF rowing team closed out the Sunshine State Invite with four victories on Saturday morning at Nathan Benderson Park.
 
The Varsity Eight picked up where it left off on Friday evening - with a victory. The squad, consisting of Elena EstebanLeslie LajoieAmy Van RynJulie PoulsenRusne DziugyteCharlotte WileyMia ClearyEmily Puia and Martina Pischedda, crossed the line in 7:31.67, more than five seconds ahead of second place Clemson.

The Second Varsity Eight finished fourth overall. The squad, consisting of Kennedy KeithAbbie PritchardLuci DerrickLauryn BenchMaria YimAnnberlee HothemTegan FookesEmily Klysen and Emma Leavens, crossed the line in 8:11.55 to come in just behind Miami.
 
The Varsity Four earned its second victory of the weekend in the third race of the day. The squad, consisting of Lauren Roman, Lara MauleSeyene OordTatum Cox and Georgia Coyne took the top spot in 8:44.67 to best Clemson by nearly six seconds.

The Knights continued their winning ways with a victory in the Third Varsity Eight race. The squad, consisting of Sofia SoriaChiara CiulloMartyna WasilewskaRachel DunfordJillian LawrensonEmily Eastwood, Saskia Papsova, Aubrie Russo and Aenea Keren won by nearly 25 seconds with a time of 8:00.40.
 
The Second Varsity Four closed out the weekend with another victory. The boat, consisting of Kenzie HarrodConnery CassidyLindsey BuckreisAryann Johnson and Michaela Gundrum, cruised to an open-water win over Clemson with a time of 8:42.65.
 
The Knights will have a week off before returning to Lake Pickett to host Miami on April 16.
