ORLANDO – Outdoor season has arrived for the UCF track and field team. The Knights open the second portion of their season at home, hosting the Black and Gold Invitational at the UCF Track Complex.
The two-day meet begins on Friday morning with the field events. The women's javelin and pole vault kick off the meet at 11 a.m. Track action gets underway with the women's 400-meter hurdles at 6 p.m. The first day of action wraps with the men's 5000-meter run at 8 p.m.
Saturday's action starts at 9 a.m. with the women's discus. The women's 4x100 relay opens action on the track at 11 a.m.
Spectators will be able to attend the Black and Gold Invitational, but must wear masks and maintain social distancing at all times. Spectators must remain in the stands and will not be allowed on the track level.
UCF returns to action after solid indoor track and field and cross country seasons. Valerie Lastra set three freshmen records in her first three cross country and indoor track and field races. Asherah Collins added her name to the record book, setting the rookie triple jump mark.
