ORLANDO, Fla. – Highlighted by 26 home games at John Euliano Park, Head Coach Greg Lovelady and the UCF baseball team unveiled its 2021 schedule on Thursday.
Head coach Greg Lovelady returns for his fifth season at the helm and currently sits at 126-68 overall with the Knights and 250-124 as a head coach. Lovelady's staff features returning assistants Ted Tom (4th season, along with pitching coach Nick Otte (3rd season).
The Black and Gold held an impressive 15-3 record a season ago before the COVID-19 pandemic brought an abrupt end to the 2020 campaign. In 2019, the Knights went 36-22 overall and held a 23-12 record in American Athletic Conference play while advancing to the semi-final round of The American Championship.
UCF's newest recruit class features six pitchers (Zack Bennett, Vince Bonanni, AJ Jones, Kenny Serwa, Ben Vespi, and Nick Vieira), three infielders (Michael Brooks, Alex Freeland, and John Montes) an outfielder (Colin Flynn), and a catcher/utility player (Matthew Menendez).
The Knights return 24 players; nine pitchers that recorded innings a season ago, including Preseason All-Conference selections Colton Gordon and Jack Sinclair, and 12 position players with starting experience.
