ORLANDO – As the current UCF football team had a weekend off from playing, 11 former Knights saw action in the NFL, including Matt Prater, who continued to set records as the placekicker for the Detroit Lions.
Prater and the Lions lost in the final seconds to the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football, but the former UCF kicker became just the third player in NFL history to connect on 50 field goals of 50 yards or longer. He joined Jason Hanson and Sebastian Janikowski.
He went 5-for-5 on field goals for the game and scored 16 total points, both tying career highs. The last time he had five field goals in a game was Oct. 29, 2017 and the most recent time Prater had 16 points was on Dec. 4, 2016.
Prater is now 50-of-65 on field goal attempts from 50 yards or longer, which is an NFL-record 76.9 conversion percentage.
