ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Three weeks after the 2018 MLB Draft, all six draft picks from UCF have received their marching orders to take the number of former Knights in the pros to 20 players scattered across various leagues around the country.
Dan Winkler and Chase Bradford continue to shine in relief roles for the Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners, respectively. Winkler's ERA ticked up to 2.53 on the year after a pair of rough outings this month. The righty has fanned 41 batters over 32 innings of work in 2018.
Bradford has a 2.81 ERA over 28 appearances this season. The 2011 draft pick is 5-0 on the year with 26 strikeouts and seven walks through 32 innings. Bradford notched his fifth win of the season after tossing a hitless 10th inning on Wednesday, June 27th, at Baltimore.
Jason Bahr moved up to Single-A Advanced last week and made his debut for the San Jose Giants on June 25. The lanky righty tossed six shutout innings with five strikeouts, four hits and one walk against the Stockton Ports. Bahr finished his tenure in Single-A after 88 strikeouts in 68 2/3 innings with a 2.75 ERA.
UCF has a quartet of players in Triple-A. Beau Taylor cooled off a bit from his hot start with the Nashville Sounds. The catcher is a .261 hitter through 50 games this season with 21 RBI. Taylor has 11 extra-base hits on the year and a .373 on-base percentage.
Dylan Moore has notched a cool .312 clip at the plate in 42 games with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. The second baseman has 20 RBI and a .355 on-base percentage since his call-up back in early May. Moore has posted 12 multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 outing against Memphis on June 25.
Ben Lively has dealt at least five strikeouts in each of his eight starts with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, going at least five innings as well. The righty has a 2.44 ERA with 42 punchouts over 48 innings of work and just 15 walks. Opponents are hitting just .199 off Lively in Triple-A.
Eric Hepple and Cre Finfrock have rolled to start their pro careers in Single-A and rookie ball, respectively. Hepple made three appearances during his first week of play with seven strikeouts over four innings. The hulking righty has not given up a run.
In just his second game, Finfrock was nearly a part of a no-hitter with the Bluefield Blue Jays. The Jensen Beach, Fla., native tossed 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts against the Burlington Royals on June 24, only for the Blue Jays' closer to give up a solo home run with two outs in the ninth. Finfrock struck out a pair during his first game on June 20.
