ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After six UCF Baseball players were selected during the 2018 MLB Draft, the Knights added to their ranks in the pros. Below is a recap of how former UCF players have fared in the professional game over the last month.
Daniel Winkler has continued to be one of the top relievers in the majors this season. The righty holds a 1.59 ERA with 38 strikeouts over 28 1/3 innings of work. The Atlanta Braves reliever did not allow an earned run for the month of May and notched a 16 1/3-innings streak without an earned run against.
Chase Bradford has made 23 appearances in 2018 for the Seattle Mariners. The burly right hander has a 2.36 ERA and 22 punchouts over 26 2/3 innings. Bradford notched a career-high four wins, while posting a 1.06 WHIP.
Dylan Moore's hot start carried over to his Triple-A promotion to the Colorado Spring Sky Sox. The second baseman is hitting .316 with a .915 on-base plus slugging percentage in 29 games with Colorado Springs. Moore has driven in 14 RBI, drawn eight walks and homered three times.
Beau Taylor is another bright spot for UCF in Triple-A with the Nashville Sounds. The catcher has a .273 clip through 43 games with 14 RBI and 23 walks. Taylor has a .389 on-base percentage to go along with a .341 slugging percentage.
In Single-A, Jason Bahr has been one of the most dominant starting pitchers in the South Atlantic League. The righty ranks third in the league with 79 strikeouts. Bahr is 6-4 on the year with a 2.87 ERA over 12 starts.
Andrew Deramo guided the Lansing Lugnuts to a playoff spot in the Midwest League. The northpaw made seven appearances, with two wins, to post a 4.91 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
MLB
• Eric Skoglund (Kansas City) – Been on the Disabled List since May 25.
• Drew Butera (Kansas City) – Notched 10 RBI in 85 at-bats this season with one home run.
TRIPLE-A
• Ben Lively (Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia) – Optioned down to Lehigh on May 10. Recorded a 2-2 record over seven starts with a 2.18 ERA and 35 strikeouts with the IronPigs.
• Darnell Sweeney (Buffalo Bisons, Toronto) – Hitting .234 over 38 games with 17 RBI and 17 walks.
• James Vasquez (Pericos de Puebla, Mexico) – Drove in six RBI in 16 games with Puebla.
SINGLE-A SHORT
• Jordan Scheftz (Mahoning Valley Scappers, Cleveland) – Promoted for the start of the year.
