CINCINNATI, Ohio (UCFKnights.com) – One member of the UCF track and field team added her name to the American Athletic Conference record book on the opening day of the 2018 outdoor championship at Gettler Stadium.
Natosha Jordan set The American meet record in the heptathlon high jump, clearing 5-9.25 on her first attempt to take first. The sophomore tied her collegiate best to break the 1.75m mark set by SMU's Lucija Cvitanovic in 2016.
Jordan used a personal best 32-3.75/9.85m in the shot put and a pair of third place finishes in both the 100m hurdles and 200m dash to accumulate 3141 points, putting her second in the standings through the first four events. She'll finish with the long jump, triple jump and 800m run on Saturday.
Jhane' Carter collected the first points of the weekend for the Knights, taking sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 187-0/57.0m. She scored three points for UCF, and the Knights sit in eighth after the first day.
On the track, Rosie Chamberlain advanced to Sunday's finals in the 800m, winning her heat with a time of 2:09.64.
Ebony Crear turned in her fastest time in the 400m hurdles since the 2017 American Championship, winning her heat in 59.90 to advance to Sunday's finals.
