CLEMSON, S.C. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF rowing team opened Clemson Invitational action on Lake Hartwell on Friday evening.
 
Due to incoming inclement weather, the racing schedule was moved up to start on Friday night and conclude on Saturday.
 
The Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Ciera Jarrett, Anna Edkins, Jordan Jahosky, Caitlin Thompson, Caitlin Ross, Eileen Acken, Nicole Snyder, Jacinta Kendall and Tatum Cox, began the evening of racing. The boat finished sixth with a time of 7:02.15
 
The Second Varsity Four raced against No. 9 Virginia, No. 18 Syracuse and a Louisville squad that is receiving votes in the CRCA Top 25. The boat, consisting of Elena Esteban, Danielle Wilson, Darby Brooks, Jessica Matteson and Maria Yim, finished just behind those crews and more than 15 seconds ahead of Tulsa to take fourth in 7:31.20.
 
The Varsity Four, consisting of Jillian Jernas, Abbie Pritchard, Aly Derksen, Magdalena Pasternak and Paula Parks, finished sixth in its heat with a time of 7:25.46.
 
The Second Varsity Eight edged Navy to finish fifth in its heat. The boat, consisting of Catherine Harms, Alyssa Ramos, Rachel Rabinowitz, Lara Maule, Sydney Hays, Rusne Dziugyte, Shannon Perry, Leslie Lajoie and Michaela Gundrum, crossed the line in 6:43.01.
 
The Varsity Eight lined up against No. 9 Virginia, No. 15 Washington State, No. 20 Oklahoma and a Minnesota squad receiving votes. The boat, consisting of Nicole Mayer, Edvina Nesukaityte, Mia Cleary, Julie Poulsen, Marija Medelinskaite, Grace Lindberg, Ieva Medelinskaite, Viktorija Senkute and Luci Derrick, was just edged by Minnesota, but finished ahead of No. 20 Oklahoma, taking fifth with a time of 6:33.62.
 
UCF will race twice on Saturday to conclude the weekend.
