ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF rowing team raced to five victories against Jacksonville and UConn on a sunny Friday morning on Lake Pickett.
The Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Melissa Hebel, Caitlin Thompson, Jessica Scales, Jessica Matteson, Caitlin Ross, Jacinta Kendall, Nicole Snyder, Anna Edkins and Tatum Cox, opened the day with a victory, crossing in the line in 6:57.90.
The Second Varsity Four, consisting of Jillian Jernas, Danielle Wilson, Darby Brooks, Eileen Acken and Maria Yim, continued the winning ways, taking first with a time of 7:41.80.
In the Varsity Four, Elena Esteban, Abbie Pritchard, Michaela Gundrum, Magdalena Pasternak and Paula Parks, gave the Knights their third consecutive victory with an open-water win. The boat crossed the line in 7:34.60.
The Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Nicole Mayer, Alyssa Ramos, Ieva Medelinskaite, Lara Maule, Sydney Hays, Rusne Dziugyte, Shannon Perry, Leslie Lajoie and Rachel Rabinowitz, followed the Varsity Four with another open-water win, finishing more than 20 seconds ahead of UConn with a time of 6:38.53.
In the Varsity Eight race, Catherine Harms, Edvina Nesukaityte, Mia Cleary, Julie Poulsen, Marija Medelinskaite, Grace Lindberg, Luci Derrick, Viktorija Senkute and Zana Krakic, posted a 10-second, open-water win over the Huskies with a time of 6:33.60.
The Black and Gold raced a pair of boats in the Third Varsity Four to close out the day. Alexis Greer, Anna Edkins, Jessica Scales, Demi Dorsey and Jordan Jahosky crossed the line in 8"07.72. Taylor Jenko, Julia Quintiliani, Katherine Goetz, Rhiannon Timpko and Jennifer Barnes finishes in 8:27.18.
The Knights return to action on March 30, lining up with Miami and Wisconsin in Sarasota.
