Challenge Concluded

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field closed out Music City Challenge action on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.

Shaniya Williams continued her strong freshman campaign, collecting her second straight top five finish in the 60-meter dash. She won her heat and advanced with a time of 7.50. She lowered her time the second time around, crossing the line in 7.47 to finish fourth overall. Williams was the first freshman across the line, edging Ohio State's Anavia Battle who finished fifth with a time of 7.51.

Rosie Chamberlain was the first Knight across the line in the 800-meter run. She posted a season-best 2:08.36 to finish fourth overall.

Beth Williams and Katy Soltis posted times of 2:14.98 and 2:18.27, respectively, in their first 800-meter appearances this season. Crystal Tejeda posted a season-best mark with a time of 2:20.57.

Shanell Atkins threw a season-best 43-9/13.33m to tie with teammate Jhane' Carter for 23rd in the shot put.

Victoria Jung posted a personal-best time of 10:27.45 in the 3000-meter run, and the UCF 4x400 relay team finished 10th with a time of 3:47.96.

The defending American Athletic Conference champions will take a week off from competition before returning to Birmingham for the 2018 indoor championship. The two-day meet will start on Feb. 23.
