ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team officially opens its 2018 campaign on Friday at the Blazer Invite.
The indoor meet begins at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET inside the Birmingham Crossplex. UCF's first events will be the mile, weight throw and long jump at 11 a.m. CT/noon ET.
The reigning American Athletic Indoor champions will open the 2018 campaign in the same venue in which they captured the 2017 league title. The Black and Gold earned the first indoor championship in The American on Feb. 25, 2017 at the Birmingham Crossplex.
UCF is one of five Florida schools competing at the all-day event, joining Bethune-Cookman, Florida Atlantic, Florida International and Miami.
Seniors Rosie Chamberlain and Johna' Whitaker headline the list of returners for the Knights. Chamberlain defended her 800-meter title at the championships, while Whitaker captured the 60-meter hurdle title last season. Sophomore Natosha Jordan took second in her first conference championship high jump, while junior Alissa Williams collected a pair of third place finishes in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes.
