ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF sophomore Tamesha Glover broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a single through the left side to provide Gold with a 2-1 victory over Black on Wednesday at the UCF Softball Complex. Gold took the first two meetings, but the winner-take-all finale is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Soldier's Creek Park in Longwood, Fla.
Both teams had their opportunities on Wednesday morning with 17 runners left on base, forcing sophomores Kamryn Toney for Black and Alea White for Gold to work out of multiple jams. White (2-0) earned with win and notched six strikeouts, while Toney rebounded by allowing just an unearned run and striking out four.
Sophomore Kyra Klarkowski paced Gold by going 3-for-3 with one RBI. Freshman Hayley Bejarano was the eventual game-winning run and scored on Glover's singe in the sixth inning.
Black came firing out of the games and got on the board in the first inning. Senior Megan Greenwell drew a walk and eventually scored on Brooke Barlow's single up the middle.
It took till the fifth inning before Gold evened the score. Klarkowski drove home sophomore Jazmine Esparza on a single down the right field line.
The finale of the Black and Gold Games is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Soldier's Creek. UCF is set to face Broward at 11 a.m. Friday at the UCF Softball Complex. The Knights then round out their fall slate in the day at Rollins with the first pitch set for 4 p.m.
