ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF Baseball recruiting class for 2017 was ranked 16th in the country by Collegiate Baseball. The Knights were the top program from the American Athletic Conference.
The 20-man class features nine pitchers and 11 position players who will suit up for the Black and Gold in 2018. The new group of Knights is made up of players from five states, including 13 from Florida, as well as one from Ontario.
New pitchers include Luis Ferrer, Jeffrey Hakanson, David Litchfield, Jarrett Montgomery, Isaiah Musa, Jack Sinclair, Jordan Spicer, Garrett Westberg and Jaylyn Whitehead.
The new position players to the program feature Ray Alejo, Griffin Bernardo, Brandon Hernandez, Jacob Molle, Tyler Osik, Chandler Robertson, Adam Torres, Jackson Webb, Dalton Wingo, Sandon Witt and Brody Wofford.
The Baseball America BA 500, which ranks the 500 best prospects in the draft class, tabbed Jordan Spicer in 144th and Wingo as the 461st. The Knights' recruiting class was also named to the Baseball America Next 10, as one of 10 programs ranked just outside the top 25.
ECU was the only other ranked program from the AAC.
UCF's fall ball begins this Friday at the UCF Baseball Complex and runs until Nov. 1, before the annual Black and Gold Series from Nov. 2-4.
