ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) - With three games called off in just over a week due to Hurricane Irma, the No. 15 UCF women's soccer team got back into action with a scrimmage Sunday afternoon.
The Knights welcomed Eastern Florida State College to town, as the Titans have also missed competition due to the storm. After 90 minutes, UCF came out on top 12-0. Eight different Knights scored in the game, led by Kayla Adamek's hat trick. The redshirt senior scored all three of her goals in a nine-minute span during the first half.
Madison Murnin started the scoring for UCF in the fifth minute, while Dina Orschmann followed up with a pair of goals to put the Knights up 3-0 by the 12th minute. Jessica Taylor gave UCF a 7-0 lead at the half with a score in the 41st minute, assisted by Jen Vera.
The second half was more of the same, starting early with Carrie Lawrence netting a goal less than two minutes into the frame. Hannah DeBose, Zandy Soree and Christine Creighton (2) also scored second half goals to lead UCF to the 12-0 victory.
Seven different Knights recorded assists in the win on Sunday. Vera Varis and Chloe N'Gazi split time in goal, with the latter finishing with one save on the day.
UCF will get back into regular season action on Thursday, playing at Cincinnati in the American Athletic Conference opener. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
