ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's soccer team hits the road to open the season at No. 4 South Carolina on Friday.

Slated for a 7 p.m. start at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium, the SEC Network will broadcast the contest.

The squads meet for the second straight season. UCF held a 1-0 lead in the second half before the Gamecocks scored twice late to take the 2-1 victory in Orlando. The last time the Knights made the trip to Columbia came in 2009 when UCF dropped a 1-0 decision at South Carolina.

UCF opens its season on the road facing a ranked opponent for the second consecutive year. Last year the Knights traveled to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face No. 12 UNC and No. 3 Duke.

SQUAD GOALS
• In its two exhibition matches, UCF scored a combined eight goals. The Black and Gold netted three against Miami and five against North Florida.
• Seven different Knights contributed to those eight goals. Redshirt senior Kayla Adamek was the only one to score in both contests.
• In addition to Adamek, Julia Moore and Morgan Ferrara notched goals against Miami. Carrie Lawrence opened the scoring against North Florida. Following Adamek's goal, Maura Aman, Christine Creighton and Hannah DeBose each sent one in the back of the net.

NEXT UP
The Knights return to Orlando to host Stetson on Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. UCF will then host No. 6 UNC at 7 p.m. on Aug. 25.
