ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's soccer team wrapped up exhibition play with a 5-0 victory over North Florida at the UCF Soccer Complex on Saturday night.
"I think our possession was pretty good in the back," associate head coach Tim Sahaydak said. "Not too many technical errors. (We were) just kind of dealing with the conditions, the rain, so I thought our possession was pretty good. We created a lot of chances. We created a lot of opportunities to score and we put a few of them in the back of the net. We're pretty happy."
Not even rain could slow down the Knights. In the 12th minute, Morgan Ferrara found Carrie Lawrence, whose shot hit the crossbar and bounced in for the first goal of the match. Christine Creighton made it a 2-0 game in the 26th minute as she snuck on the backside of the goal to send a cross from Emily Tipton into the net.
Kayla Adamek found herself in the right place at the right time at the beginning of the second half. The UNF goalkeeper's block of Julia Moore's shot set Adamek up for the easy rebound to make it a 3-0 contest in the 47th minute.
Moore's corner kick in the 68th minute found Maura Aman who delivered the fourth goal of the match. Less than three minutes later, Saga Fredriksson set up Hannah DeBose at the top of the box for the fifth tally of the night.
UCF went 2-0 with a pair of shutouts in preseason exhibition play.
The Knights officially open the season on Aug. 18, traveling to No. 4 South Carolina. UCF returns to the UCF Soccer Complex to host Stetson on Aug. 20.
