CLEMSON, S.C. (UCFKnights.com) - For the second week in a row, redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney cruised to a record-setting win. One of seven top-10 finishers on Friday afternoon, she set the UCF record in the mile at the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson University.
The Ocala, Fla., native won the event with a time of 4:45.06, shattering her previous record of 4:49.50 in the event. Blaney set a record in her second event of the season after she improved her mark in the 3,000-meter run at the Rod McCravy Memorial on Jan. 21.
Four Knights finished in the top six in the weight throw, led by senior Chelsea Gobourne who won in the event. Gobourne's winning distance was 65-0.50/19.82m. Sophomore Gabby Durant finished third, throwing a personal-best 57-11.25/17.66m. Sophomore Jhane' Carter came in just behind her, taking fourth with a distance of 55-9.75/17.01m. Senior Tayla Greene rounded out the group, finishing sixth with a throw of 55-0.25/16.77m.
Senior J'Nea Bellamy finished third in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.46. In the 60-meter hurdles finals, Johna' Whitaker finished fourth with a career-best time of 8.48.
The Knights wrap up the weekend tomorrow at the Bob Pollock Invitational.
