TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF men's tennis kicked off the 2016 ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Tallahassee, Florida, Thursday afternoon in the qualifying round of the tournament.

Italian freshman Nicolo de Fraia grabbed the Knights lone victory in the qualifying round, defeating Stetson's William Shkrob 6-0, 6-2. With the win, de Fraia advances to play Felipe Jaworski of Georgia State at 8:30 a.m. for a spot in the singles main draw.

Saitejas Mopuri and Enrique Paya each dropped their qualifying round matches in two sets, but the two would rebound in the qualifying consolation round with a win each.

Chris Barrus, Danny Kerznerman and Mariano Porter already have spots in the singles main draw and play their first matches of the regional tournament tomorrow afternoon.
