FORT MYERS, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF men's tennis team was back in action at the Bedford Cup on Saturday. Sophomore Nico De Fraia remained undefeated and collected his third victory of the weekend in singles action.
In the quarterfinals of the B Singles, De Fraia dropped the first set to Stetson's Laurynas Antropikas, but battled back to earn the 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win.
Junior Chris Barrus defeated Florida Atlantic's Romain Boudaroua, 6-2, 6-0, 7-5, in the A Singles consolation.
Juniors Mariano Porter and Inaki Espindola each earned a win in the A Singles North Quarterfinals, while freshman Jack Thiessen earned an A Singles South Quarterfinal victory.
In doubles action, a pair of UCF teams won in the B Semifinals. Sophomore Tyler Pate and junior Arjun Watane earned an 8-6 victory over Bethune-Cookman's Jordan Belga and Pable Lopez. De Fraia and freshman Jack Thiessen won after Bethune-Cookman's Justin Hall and Alexander Chepick retired.
The Knights close out Bedford Cup action on Sunday on the FGCU campus.
