ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's tennis team used four consecutive wins in single action to defeat No. 65 Troy 4-1 on Friday morning at the UCF Tennis Complex . The Knights improved to 14-8 on the season while snapping Troy's 10-match winning streak.
The Trojans opened the match with wins on courts two and three to claim the doubles point and take an early 1-0 lead in the match.
Senior Francesc Aulina, playing No. 2 singles for the first time this season, secured the first UCF point of the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Hassan Ndayishimye. Sophomore Chris Barrus gave the Black and Gold a 2-1lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Daniel Bustamante at No. 3 singles.
Sophomore Inaki Espindola pushed the UCF advantageto 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Andy Lau at the number four position. Sophomore Mariano Porter, undefeated in singles action, sealed the UCF victory over the Trojans with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win over Pablo Moreno at the number five position.
UCF returns to action tomorrow, making a trip to Miami Shores to face Barry, the No. 3 team in Division II. The Knights and the Buccaneers face off at 11 a.m. on the courts of the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
