TULSA, Okla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The sixth-seeded UCF men's tennis team's American Athletic Conference Championships stay came to an end on Friday as third-seeded Tulane defeated the Knights 4-0 in the quarterfinals at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Starting the day with doubles competition, the Green Wave took an early 1-0 lead in the match. Constantin Schmitz and Sebastian Rey teamed up at No. 3 doubles to post a 6-2 win over senior Francesc Aulina and freshman Tyler Pate. Tulane clinched the doubles point with Alexander Van Cott and Ian Van Cott's 6-3 win over sophomores Mariano Porter and Jesse Flores at No. 2 doubles.

The Knights looked to make a comeback in singles action, but Tulane continued to roll. Dominik Koepfer, the No. 13 singles player in the nation, used a straight set win at No. 1 singles to extend the Green Wave advantage.

Constantin Schmitz defeated junior Jose Sangroniz, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 singles and Sebastian Rey sealed the Tulane victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win over sophomore Chris Barrus at No. 4 singles.

Tulane improved to 16-6 and advanced to the semifinals to face second-seeded Tulsa. UCF fell to 15-10 on the season.
