ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - After falling in doubles action, the UCF men's tennis team used four consecutive singles wins to claim a 5-2 win over Butler at the UCF Tennis Complex on Sunday.

Butler opened the match with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles, but sophomores Chris Barrus and Inaki Espindola pulled the Knights even in doubles play with a 6-4 win on court one. The doubles point came down to a tiebreaker at No. 2, but the Bulldogs claimed the 1-0 lead with the win on court two..

Senior Francesc Aulina's straight set win at No. 1 singles pulled the Black and Gold even with Butler. Sophomore Mariano Porter won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles to give the Knights their first lead of the day. A straight set win from Barrus, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4 singles gave UCF a 2-1 lead, which junior Jose Sangroniz extended with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.

Butler earned a point back at on court six. After freshman Nico DeFraia won his opening set, he fell in sets two and three. Espindola battled back from an opening set loss for a 6-7 (9), 7-6 (4), 10-6) win at No. 3 singles to give the Knights a 5-2.

UCF hosts Western Michigan at the UCF Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon. The teams are slated for a 2 p.m. start.
