ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - A 7-0 win over visiting Mercer gave the No. 72 UCF men's tennis team its second win at the UCF Tennis Complex this weekend.
UCF (7-6) dominated in doubles action, as sophomores Chris Barrus and Inaki Espindola claimed an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Senior Francesc Aulina and sophomore Reece Acree teamed up for an 8-6 win on court two to seal the doubles point for UCF.
Moving to singles, Espindola continued the trend, making quick work of AndersonScarpa, 6-2, 6-1 at the number three position. Wins from sophomores Jesse Flores, Barrus and Mariano Porter pushed the UCF lead to 5-0.
Junior Jose Sangroniz won his opening set on court two, but dropped the second set, forcing a decisive third set. He won, 11-9 to give the Knights a win at No. 2 singles. Aulina sealed the sweep with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 comeback win at No. 1 singles.
UCF heads back on the road, traveling to Fort Meyers for an early afternoon match at Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 27.
