BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (UCFKnights.com) - The No. 68 UCF men's tennis team faced Xavier University late Friday night in Bloomington, Ind. and came away with a 6-1 victory to remain undefeated in dual action so far this season.
UCF took an early 1-0 advantage by wrapping up the doubles point. Inaki Espindola gave the Knights a 2-0 lead when he easily dispatched Xavier's Freddy Abunku. The Musketeers mustered a point when Mesa Mei defeated Matthew Gladstone at No. 1 singles. But that was the only time Xavier would light the scoreboard.
The Knights were victorious in the remainder of the singles matches to complete the victory. Amar Hromic took a hard-fought victory at No. 2 singles, while Chris Barrus and Jesse Flores each needed three sets to win their matches at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. Francesc Aulina and Espindola both won in straight sets.
The Knights will now face Indiana Sunday in Bloomington.
