Youngsters Continue to Shine in Georgia

Athens, Ga. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF's young players continued to shine Saturday as the Knights continued play at the Southern Intercollegiates. Two UCF freshman advanced to the quarterfinals of their singles draw and one doubles team is still alive in the main draw.

Rookies Chris Barrus and Inaki Espindola both won round of 32 singles matches in the Division III bracket to advance to the quarterfinals. Neither played advanced to the semifinals, but both showed promise Saturday.

In Division II Doubles play, Barrus and fellow freshman Reece Acree advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8-7 win over Vasily Eremeev and Artem Tarasov of Tennessee Tech.

The event is the first of the fall for the Knights.

Twenty-eight squads are participating in the four day event in Athens.
