ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 13 UCF women's soccer team will open Conference USA play Friday at SMU riding a six-match unbeaten streak. The Knights (5-1-2) will meet the Mustangs at 8 p.m. EST at Westcott Field.
The contest at SMU is one of two road league matches for the Knights this weekend. The squad will play at Tulsa Sunday afternoon.
UCF excelled during the non-conference portion of its schedule. The Knights recorded some impressive wins, including a 2-1 defeat of No. 19 Penn State at the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic and a 5-1 triumph over cross-state rival USF. UCF also earned a 4-4 draw at No. 22 San Diego State. The team's only loss came to No. 17 Wake Forest.
UCF junior Tishia Jewell (Satellite Beach, Fla.) enters conference play fourth in the country with seven assists. Fellow junior Nicolette Radovcic (Rockaway, N.J.) has totaled three goals and three assists on the year and senior Aline Reis (Campinas, Brazil) has recorded three shutouts for the Knights.
In 2010, the Knights went 8-1-2 in C-USA action and claimed the league regular-season title.
SMU is 4-4-0 on the year. The host Mustangs blanked Prairie View A&M, 4-0, on Sunday. Last year, UCF defeated SMU twice in Orlando, once during the regular season and then again at the C-USA Championship.
