ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 24 UCF women's soccer team heads to California this weekend to take on No. 22 San Diego State Friday afternoon. The match is set for 7 p.m. EDT at the San Diego State University Sports Deck.
UCF, 1-1, will play two matches in California as The Knights will meet host San Diego, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at the Torero Stadium at 5:30 p.m. EDT.
UCF will take on SDSU for the second-consecutive season. Last year, the Knights defeated the Aztecs 2-0 at home. The Black and Gold are 2-1 overall against SDSU not having lost to them since 1997 in San Diego.
UCF began the season with a 5-1 win over USF Aug. 19 in which junior Tishia Jewell (Satellite Beach, Fla.) and Bianca Joswiak (Berlin, Germany) each netted a pair of goals for the Black and Gold. Senior Katie Jackson also scored a goal for the Knights.
The Knights are coming into this match after a 1-0 loss to Wake Forest where senior goalkeeper Aline Reis (Campinas, Brazil) totaled five saves and Jewell led all players with six shots, placing three on goal.
The Aztecs are 3-1 this season after defeating No. 4 Portland, 1-0, on Aug. 28.
The Knights return home Sept. 16 against Jacksonville after four road games.
Individual game tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youth and seniors. For just $75, Knights fans will receive season tickets to both soccer programs as well as volleyball in the fall and every softball game and track & field meet in the spring. The 2011 Gold Pass is on sale now and can be purchased online at UCFAthletics.com, over the phone by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting the Bright House Networks Stadium Ticket Office.
