ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Coming off another championship season, the UCF women's soccer team kicks off its spring campaign Friday. The Knights will be facing the United States Under-20 National Team at 7 p.m. at Plantation Pine Island Park field No. 2 in Plantation, Fla.
UCF capped off the 2010 fall schedule with a 15-5-3 record and its third Conference USA regular-season title in the last five years. It received one of 16 national seeds for the 64-team NCAA Tournament, where the Knights traveled to Los Angeles and defeated Fresno State in the first round before falling to host UCLA, 2-1, in the second round.
The spring marks the beginning of preparations for the 2011 campaign, and the Black and Gold will return a healthy dose of its production from last year. C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Tishia Jewell is coming off a 10-goal, 12-assist sophomore season, goalkeeper Aline Reis and midfielder Katie Jackson were voted onto the All-C-USA First Team as juniors and UCF's backline consisted of three freshmen and a sophomore.
And when the fall season gets underway, the Knights will be welcomed by a new facility as construction has begun on the new UCF Track and Soccer Complex, with completion set for early spring.
