TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The first day of the Florida State Quad Tournament wrapped up Saturday with the UCF women's tennis team picking up a pair of singles wins. The Knights are taking on three highly-ranked programs during the weekend in No. 14 FSU, No. 30 Iowa and No. 60 Alabama.

Eight Knights were in action Saturday, and following doubles play, UCF met up with Iowa and Alabama on the singles courts. Freshman Josephine Haraldson had little trouble getting past Iowa's Christina Harzin in a 6-1, 6-1 triumph. And sophomore Allison Hodges got past Cassandra Escobar of Iowa in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

The three-day event is giving all four teams high-quality matches before the dual-match season gets underway. UCF's first dual-match is slated for Saturday, Jan. 22, vs. Florida A&M at noon at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Black and Gold also will have an exhibition match during the week when it faces the U.S. Junior National Team Thursday at 2 p.m.
