ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - As the UCF women's soccer team looks ahead to beginning the Conference USA season at home this weekend, the Black and Gold will do so ranked No. 23 in the nation by Soccer America. The Knights started the year ranked No. 25, and during the 2009 campaign they were as high as No. 8 in the country.

Along with being ranked this week, UCF sophomore forward Tishia Jewell received her third weekly honor Tuesday as she claimed a spot on the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers of the Week squad. On Monday, she was selected as the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week (UCF keeper Aline Reis was the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week) and was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week. Jewell helped lead the Knights to a 5-0 win vs. No. 19 Arizona State last weekend by scoring two goals and adding an assist.

Last year's C-USA regular season champion, UCF currently owns a 5-2-1 record this year and is coming off that convincing victory over ASU, which was previously undefeated before facing the Knights. Although both of the losses came at the hands of top-10 teams, the Black and Gold has a 3-2-0 mark against teams that advanced to the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

With the non-conference season in the rear-view mirror, the Knights are now preparing to kick off the C-USA schedule by hosting East Carolina Friday at 7 p.m. and Marshall Sunday at 1 p.m. which will be broadcast live on Bright House Sports Network. Admission to all matches at the UCF Soccer Complex is free.
