TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's soccer team was unable to keep its winning streak alive Sunday, suffering a 3-1 defeat at No. 8 Florida State. It was the Knights' first-loss since Aug. 22 as its record dropped to 4-2-0 on the year, while the Seminoles stretched their record to 5-2-0.

Senior Kim Newsome registered her second goal of the season in the second half Sunday. UCF finished with nine shots overall and placed five on goal.

UCF keeper Aline Reis kept Florida State off the board until a penalty kick by Toni Pressley gave the home team a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Almost six minutes later, Kassey Kallman stretched it to 2-0 on an unassisted goal.

After the break, FSU was able to put the game away in the 58th minute on a goal from Breezy Hupp. UCF would prevent the shutout with 20 minutes remaining when Newsome hit the back of the net. Brianna Schooley earned the assist on the play (originally credited to Tishia Jewell).

UCF will return to the road next weekend when it competes in the Arizona Tournament where it faces Arizona Sept. 17 at 9:30 p.m. and No. 24 Arizona State Sept. 19 at 12:30 p.m.
