ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With a roster filled with veterans, the UCF men's soccer team is eagerly anticipating kicking off preseason camp Saturday morning. The Knights will typically hold two practices a day as they look forward to the regular-season opener at home vs. Jacksonville Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.

"We return everybody from last year and only have four new faces as we head into the preseason," said head coach Bryan Cunningham. "So we will immediately pick up where we left off in the spring which is to focus on our fitness level as well as our defensive roles and responsibilities."

The preseason also is highlighted by three scrimmages for the Black and Gold. It will first travel to the College of Charleston Aug. 21, then host Tampa Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. and St. Leo Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. Admission to all home matches at the UCF Soccer Complex is free.

"Since we have just four newcomers, we will want to go out and not just experiment in our scrimmages, but we want to win to lay the foundation for the regular season," said Cunningham.

The Knights will be led by seniors Camilo Rendon, Yaron Bacher and Josh Andone, along with Conference USA Preseason Team member Kevan George. Nicholas Robson also returns after leading the squad with eight goals and 22 points a year ago, as does keeper Shawn Doyle who recorded two shutouts and a 1.78 goals-against average in 2009.
