GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Completing what was an impressive weekend for the UCF track and field team, several Knights competed in the Jimmy Carnes Meet Sunday afternoon in Gainesville.
Junior Micaela Wimberly (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Santrell Atkins (Miramar, Fla.) had great performances in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing first and second in the event. Wimberly crossed the line in 8.08 seconds while Atkins was next in 8.26.
Wimberly was also the top Knight finisher in the 200m dash, taking 15th with a time of 25.64. Freshman Amanda Leland (Tampa, Fla.) finished 20th (26.02) while junior Dan'Elle Bellamy (Sanford, Fla.) had a personal-best 26.34 to finish 25th. Bellamy also had a personal-best time of 1:00.05 in the 400m dash.
Senior Carley Dart (Whitby, Ontario) ran a personal-best 2:14.76 to finish third in the 800m run. In the mile run, sophomore Kathia Skinner (Tampa, Fla.) shattered her personal best in the mile, crossing the line in 5:16.38.
Another personal best was set in the 3,000m run with junior Ocean Cohen (Sarasota, Fla.) finishing in 10:30.50, good for fourth place. Freshman Mason Gardberg (Tampa, Fla.) made her first appearance for the Knights, running the 3,000m run in 11:49.98.
