Women's Rowing Concludes Fall Season at Head of the Hooch

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's rowing team will compete in its final event of the fall season when it travels to Chattanooga, Tenn., Saturday to compete in the Head of the Hooch regatta. The 5,000-meter contest is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on the Tennessee River.

The Black and Gold will have 10 total squads competing at the event, which includes two varsity 8+ boats, four varsity 4+ boats, two varsity 2x boats and two novice 8+ boats.

The Women's Freshman/Novice 8+ event is the first on tap for the Knights at the regatta, with the race set to begin at 10 a.m. The pair of novice squads will compete against Duke, Eastern Michigan, Stetson, Louisville, Texas, Tulsa and Old Dominion in the morning event.

UCF's varsity eight teams will follow closely after at 11:29 a.m., where the varsity eight `A' boat of Lauren Patton, Liz Robinson, Jordynn Pauls, Samantha MIller, Allisha Campaigne, Katherine Krueger, Lauren Hampson, Lucia Pinelli and Chelsey Green, as well as the varsity eight `B' boat, will race against both Clemson and Louisville who concluded the 2009 spring season ranked No. 12 and No. 18, respectively, in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing poll. In all, 35 different boats will compete in the Women's Championship 8+ event.

Following the varsity eight event, the Black and Gold will have two boats taking part in the Women's Championship 2x race at 2:20 p.m., before the Knights conclude the event with the Women's Championship 4+ event at 4:04 p.m.

In 2008, UCF's varsity eight `B' boat was the team's top-finisher in the Women's Championship 8+ event after finishing in a time of 17:13.7, good for eighth place behind Clemson `A', Louisville, Tennessee, UT Austin, Clemson `B' and a pair of boats from Duke.
