ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With only three regular season games left, the UCF men's soccer team will host Kentucky Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in a pivotal Conference USA contest. Both teams will enter the game at 2-3-0 in C-USA play, and a win for the Knights would improve their chances at earning one of the four berths to the league's tournament.
The game will broadcast live in central Florida by Bright House Sports Network. Two prominent voices in UCF athletics will be on the call with Marc Daniels handling the play-by-play duties and Scott Adams serving as the color analyst.
UCF enters the game having one three of its last four games. The Knights had a three-game winning streak snapped last Saturday with a 2-0 loss at UAB. Prior to that contest, UCF had outscored FIU, Mercer and Marshall 7-3 in posting three victories.
Kentucky won seven of its first eight games this season and spent time ranked in the top-25, but the Wildcats have struggled since entering C-USA action, losing three of their five games. The team is coming off a 1-0 victory on Oct. 17 against South Carolina.
Freshman Nicholas Robson (Auckland, New Zealand) continues to lead UCF in goals (4), assists (5) and points (13) while junior captain Yaron Bacher (Atlanta, Ga.) has tallied three goals and three assists on the season. The UAB game ended a four-game scoreless streak for Bacher. Freshman keeper Shawn Doyle (Fort Myers, Fla.) continues to improve and stopped a career-high nine shots against UAB.
Matt Lodge has scored six goals on the season and matches Robson's point total with 13. UK has two very talented defenders in goalkeeper Dan Williams and defender Barry Rice. Williams stopped 36 shots and a 0.85 goals against average. Rice was a preseason All-American and anchors the Wildcat defense.
