GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's tennis team had an impressive day on the courts Saturday during day two of the University of Florida Gator Fall Classic. The Knights collected four wins in five singles matches against the University of Mississippi.
Sophomore Alexis Rodriguez's triumph came at the hands of Karen Nijssen, who was ranked No. 49 in the nation in the preseason ITA poll. And Rodriguez did not even surrender a game, marking her first 6-0, 6-0 victory as a Knight.
Meanwhile, freshman Jenna Doerfler posted her first collegiate triumph, earning a 6-3, 6-2 win against Connor Vogel. Classmate Allison Hodges also notched a straight-set victory, getting past Abigail Guthrie, 6-1, 6-1, and sophomore Taylor Dubins cruised as well for the Black and Gold, defeating Laura van de Stroet, 6-2, 6-1.
UCF will wrap up its trip to Gainesville with the third and final day of action Sunday.
