BOCA RATON, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Despite playing 110 minutes Wednesday night, UCF (3-2-2) and FAU (3-2-2) could not push across a goal as the Knights left Boca Raton with a 0-0 tie. Freshman Shawn Doyle (Fort Myers, Fla.) stopped second shots in the game and earned his second career shutout.

The Knights were on the offensive early in the contest, firing the game's first three shots and getting two corner kicks in the first 15 minutes. UCF held a 12-11 edge in shots fired during the game.

"It was a good game at both ends, and unfortunately we were not able to capitalize on our opportunities," said head coach Bryan Cunningham. "Still, we left with a tie and set our sights to Saturday night's conference opener at Memphis."

UCF, the Conference USA leader in shots per game, went into the break with a 7-4 edge in shots but still mired in a scoreless tie.

During the second half and the 20 minutes of overtime, the two teams combined for only 12 shots as the defenses held strong. Junior Yaron Bacher (Atlanta, Ga.) and freshman Nik Robson (Auckland, New Zealand) led the Knights with three shots each.

With seven non-conference games in the books, UCF will kick off C-USA play on Saturday on the road, traveling to play at Memphis at 8 p.m.

A season ago, UCF and Memphis battled twice, with the Knights posting two 1-0 victories. The second of the two wins accounted for UCF's first C-USA Tournament victory.
