Padres Take Hartman in MLB Draft

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF senior outfielder Chadd Hartman (Windermere, Fla.) was selected by San Diego in the 43rd round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft Thursday. The Olympia High School product was the third pick of the 43rd round and the 1,284th selection overall.

In 2009, Hartman appeared in 39 games, making 17 starts. He hit .236, totaling 17 hits, two home runs and 11 RBI.

For his career, Hartman hit .245 in 164 games. He recorded 94 hits and 58 RBI as a Knight.

After concluding his high school career, he was selected in the 43rd round of the 2005 draft by Cleveland. Hartman became the 69th draft pick in UCF history.

Hartman is the second Knight to hear his name called in the draft this year. On Wednesday, junior pitcher Austin Hudson was picked by Seattle in the 27th round.
