UCF Fastbreak - Jan. 13

Jan. 13, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Following the Knights' thrilling triple-overtime 97-91 win over Tulsa on Saturday evening at the new UCF Arena, the UCF athletics communications office will be busy this week researching. The contest served as just the second triple-overtime game in UCF history and the first since 1977.

The UCF basketball media guide does not list single-game records for minutes played. Senior guard Dave Noel (Boynton Beach, Fla./Boynton Beach) likely established the single-game high as he was on the floor for a staggering 51 minutes against the Golden Hurricane.

Four Knights played for 40 or more minutes. Junior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla./Tavares) registered 49 minutes, senior guard Mike O'Donnell (Largo, Fla./Largo) played for 44 minutes and senior center Stanley Billings (Orlando, Fla./Oak Ridge) played for 40 minutes.

Billings' previous career-high in minutes was registered on Tuesday at Southern Miss when he tallied 27 minutes against the Golden Eagles.

UCF connected on 30 free throws during the contest. The 30 made foul shots were the most for the Knights since Feb. 7, 1994, when they hit 31 against USF.

The 30 free throws tied for seventh on the school's single-game register.

Head coach Kirk Speraw gave his team the day off on Sunday. UCF's next contest is set for Saturday at East Carolina.

The Knights are 9-7 overall and 2-0 in Conference USA play in 2007-08.
