LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The Knights had a busy Wednesday morning, practicing at a pair of locations in preparation for the Old Spice Classic. UCF opens the eight-team event on Thursday at 7 p.m., facing 19th-ranked Villanova at the Milk House in Lake Buena Vista.
The contest will be televised live nationally on ESPN2. Every contest at the tournament will be broadcast on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
On Wednesday morning, UCF had a light practice inside the Milk House for an hour. The session gave members of the team the opportunity to get acquainted with the 5,000-seat facility.
Following the practice, UCF head coach Kirk Speraw and senior guard Mike O'Donnell (Largo, Fla./Largo) met with members of the media. Speraw participated in a number of interviews, including one with ESPN2 for the game broadcast.
Prior to the practice, Speraw spent time talking about his team with Fran Fraschilla, who will be handling the color commentary on Thursday.
After the session at Disney's Wide World of Sports, the Knights moved to the Kissimmee Civic Center for a more formal practice.
The Old Spice Classic is in its second year. The tournament is organized by ESPN Regional and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
On Friday, the Knights will play either George Mason or No. 20 Kansas State. George Mason is currently receiving votes in both national polls. NC State, Penn State, Rider and South Carolina are also participating in the event. No games are scheduled for Saturday and the tournament will conclude on Sunday.
Tickets for the tournament are available at all Ticketmaster outlets. On Thursday, tickets can be purchased at the Milk House box office.
Season tickets for UCF home games are available by calling 407-UCF-1000. Single-game tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and at the UCF box office at Bright House Networks Stadium.
UCF's next contest at the new UCF Arena is slated for Nov. 28 against Presbyterian. UCF is 2-0 in 2007-08 after topping national power Nevada and Norfolk State at home.
