ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - "UCF Sports Today" with men's basketball coach Kirk Speraw airs this Friday at 5:30 p.m. on Sun Sports. The half-hour program will feature highlights of the Golden Knights' last two contests when the team defeated Marshall and SMU.
UCF (13-4, 2-1 Conference USA) had an exciting win over host Marshall last Saturday, 78-71. Junior guard Mike O'Donnell (Largo, Fla./Largo) finished the game with a team-high of 20 points and hit four 3-pointers in the second half to lead the Golden Knights to victory.
The Golden Knights continued to dominate with a 64-56 win over SMU on Wednesday. UCF was led by sophomore guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla./Tavares) who had a game-high of 18 points, 11 of which were in the second half.
This week's show includes a feature story on sophomore forward Kendrick Zondervan (Hoofddorp, Holland). At 6-foot-9 and 225 pounds, Zondervan is a major contributor for the team. Zondervan recorded eight points and four rebounds in only 13 minutes against Jacksonville in November and in the last contest versus SMU, he scored five points and dished out four assists in the win.
The squad will host Rice on Saturday, Jan. 20. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
