Men's Soccer to Play Neutral Site Match with Furman Saturday

Sept. 15, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF men's soccer team travels to Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday for a neutral site match against Furman at Snyder Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Originally scheduled to play two games in a tournament hosted by Wofford, the Golden Knights (1-5-0) were cut back to just one contest against the Paladins (4-2-0) when the fourth team cancelled. Still UCF sees the match against Furman, a squad that is ranked 10th in the South Region, as a competitive final tune-up prior to opening the Conference USA schedule at Tulsa next weekend.

The Golden Knights are coming off a disappointing 3-2 loss to Wright State on Sept. 10. Sophomore Zak Boggs (Vienna, W.Va./The Pendleton School) and junior Ryan Roushandel (Atlanta, Ga./Marist School) scored in the game, while sophomore goalkeeper Marcus Rein (Scotts Valley, Calif./Edison Academic Center) made four saves.

Five different players have scored for UCF thus far this season with freshman Jamal Robinson (Fort Wayne, Ind./Fort Wayne Northrop HS) topping the stat sheet with two goals.

Junior Dominic Cianciarulo leads the Furman offense with two goals - both game-winners - and two assists for six points. On the other end of the field, junior Bryan Amos has played all six matches in goal with a 0.83 goals-against-average.

Saturday marks the first time in program history that the Golden Knights and Paladins have met.
