Women's Golf Remains in Sixth After Day Two at State Championship

Ashley Grier continued her solid play Saturday with an even-par 72 to pace UCF as the Golden Knights maintained the sixth position through two rounds of the of the Ryder Florida Women's Collegiate Golf Championship at Don Shula's Golf Club. Florida State shot the low round of the day Saturday with a 6-over-par 294 and moved into the lead in the 12-team field. The Seminoles hold a four-stroke advantage over first-round leader Rollins heading into Sunday's final round.

Florida State's Caroline Westrup moved into the lead in the race for medalist honors with a 1-over-par 73 to match the 73 she carded Friday. She is at 2-over-par 146 through two rounds and leads a trio of golfers by one shot heading into Sunday's play. Grier is tied for fifth with a pair of golfers two shots back at 4-over-par.

South Florida and Florida Southern are tied for third in the team standings, nine shots behind Florida State, while fifth-place Florida International in another shot back.

Holly Boot and Jessica Trein began the day tied with Grier for ninth but dropped back during Saturday's round. Boot shot a 7-over-par 79 and dropped into a tie for 23rd and Trein shot an 8-over-par 80 and dropped into a tie for 29th.

Meanwhile, Kristy McLaughlin and Annabel Silk made up some ground on the field Saturday. Each carded 6-over-par 78s and McLaughlin moved up six spots into a tie for 35th, while Silk moved up six spots into a tie for 37th.
